We, as a society that should strive to reduce government interference in all of our lives, must hold this standard to all things. In this case, the real decision is the right of the woman thereof. Any moral ramifications she and her family must deal with in terms of their belief and spiritual household structure - and they will be judged by a higher authority later. In the interim, on this earth and in this life, the government needs to not interfere as much. Lest they start interfering in other aspects.

In terms of Environment, I do not want to decrease funding to State Parks - this is something that we as Texans should be proud of and hold dear. Law enforcement does not need an increase in spending simply because too many urban law enforcement divisions are trending to military tactics - police are there to protect and serve, not to be military force. And we can increase their spending levels once law enforcement agencies show they can once again be police forces we can trust, not military forces that mirror a dictatorship.
Thankfully, we do not have an income tax in Texas, and that is a blessing. On Sales Taxes, I envision gathering citizens and town hall meetings to find a way to do a progressive Sales Tax that takes into account the final ticket price but also the importance of the item purchased. To wit, families need automobiles, so why not lower THAT sales tax structure? Let's have real and frank discussions on sales taxes and see what we can do to give hard working Texans a break.
Collective bargaining can kill Texas government - and while no one likes a furlough or layoff, there can be ways to mitigate those effects.

There are plenty of able-bodied workers here in Texas, to be sure. We do not need a guest worker program of any sort. Yes, I support an increase on the minimum wage because the bottom line is that it doesn't hurt the bottom line in the long run - more people able to buy more things and spend more money equals greater tax revenue and economic growth. And if my burger goes up $1 as a result, I can either choose to buy or not, and chances are with most every aspect of impulse shopping, I will buy anyway.
